Our client, a high-growth, early-stage B2B SaaS company looking for an ambitious, hands-on, and strategic Head of Finance to serve as our foundational finance hire. Reporting directly to the CEO, you will own the entire finance and accounting function—building the financial infrastructure, scaling systems for growth, and acting as a core business partner across Executive Leadership-Engineering, Sales, and Operations.

This is not a traditional back-office finance role. As our inaugural finance leader, you will sit at the intersection of strategy and operations, advising the CEO on operational efficiency, key SaaS metrics, capitalization strategies, and innovative paths to maximize revenue growth.

Key Responsibilities

• Build & Own Financial Operations: Establish and scale the firm’s core financial architecture from scratch, including accounting systems, reporting frameworks, internal controls, and compliance.

• Strategic Business Partnership: Serve as a trusted advisor to the CEO and cross-functional leadership (Sales, Engineering, Operations) to align financial targets with product roadmap execution and go-to-market strategies.

• Revenue Optimization & Pricing Strategy: Partner with Sales and Product teams to analyze, experiment with, and deploy innovative pricing strategies, contract structures, and monetization models to drive ARR growth and unit economics.

• Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A): Own the company’s budget, cash flow modeling, forecasting, and SaaS metric tracking (e.g., ARR/MRR, CAC, LTV, Net Retention, Gross Margin, Burn Rate).

• Cross-Functional Scale: Translate complex financial data into actionable operational insights for non-finance teams, ensuring efficient resource allocation across engineering and operational initiatives.

• Board & Investor Relations: Assist the CEO in board deck preparation, investor communications, fundraising execution, and long-term capital planning.

Qualifications

• Experience: 8+ years of progressive financial leadership experience, with proven success in early-stage or rapidly scaling B2B SaaS environments.
\n
• Foundational Track Record: Proven experience building financial processes, tools, and tech stacks (ERP, billing systems, revenue recognition) from the ground up as a standalone lead or first finance hire.

• Commercial Mindset: Strong commercial acumen with a track record of driving top-line growth, optimizing SaaS pricing structures, and evaluating unit economics.

• Technical Mastery: Deep mastery of SaaS accounting principles (ASC 606 revenue recognition), cash flow management, and complex financial modeling.

• Collaborative Leadership: Exceptional communication skills with the ability to influence cross-functional technical, sales, and operational teams.
\n
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field; MBA or CPA is a plus.
